The November 2010 turnover in retail trade, except ofmotor vehicles and motorcycles, dropped 0.6 per cent from October at comparable prices, according to seasonally adjusted data released by the National Statistical Institute on Friday.

In November 2010, the working day adjusted turnover in retail trade, except of motor vehicles and motorcycles, dropped 5.2 per cent from a year earlier.

November retail sales of computers, peripheral units and software; telecommunications equipment, etc. in specialized stores rose 0.6 per cent from October. The retail sales of automotive fuel in specialized stores increased 0.2 per cent, and retail sales of medical and orthopaedic goods, cosmetic and toilet articles in specialized stores rose 0.1 per cent from October.

Decreases were reported for all other activities, from 0.2 per cent in the retail sale of food, beverages and tobacco, to 2.6 per cent in the retail sale of textiles, clothing, footwear and leather goods in specialized stores.

Turnover in November 2010 increased 0.4 per cent on year only in the retail sale of food, beverages and tobacco. Decreases were reported for all other activities. They were bigger than average at 9.3 per cent in the retail sale of audio and video equipment; hardware, paints and glass; electrical household appliances, and at 7.2 per cent in the retail sale of medical and orthopaedic goods, cosmetic and toilet articles.
