Bulgaria's gross domestic product (GDP) amounted to 56,519.8 mln leva in 2007, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said. The GDP grew by 6.2% in real terms compared to 2006.

The GDP stood at $39,541.7 mln. calculated at an average annual currency rate of 1.429371 leva for $1. The GDP per capital totaled 7,341.2 leva ($5,135.9). Calculated in euro Bulgaria's GDP for 2007 stood at 28,898.1 mln. euros, while the per capita figure stood at 3,753.5 euros.

The gross value added in the Bulgarian economy amounted to 46,400.7 mln. leva, which represents an increase of 6.3% compared to 2006. .

The industrial sector accounted for 32.3% of the gross value added in the economy in 2007, up 1.4% compared to the previous year. The gross value added by the sector rose by 14.0% in 2007, compared to 2006.

The gross value added by the services sector marked an increase of 7.5% in 2007, while its share in in the total gross value added in the economy went up from 60.6% in 2006 to 61.5% in 2007. The production activity in the agriculture sector went down by 29.7% in 2007, compared to the previous year.

In terms of final use components, investments in gross fixed capital formation in 2007 rose by 21.7% on 2006 and accounted for 29.8% of GDP. Individual consumption marked an increase of 5.1% compared to 2006. .

Bulgaria's foreign trade balance for 2007 shows a 12,486.7 mln. leva gap. Exports went up by 5.2% in 2007, while imports rose by 9.9%.

The GDP of the country for the fourth quarter of 2007 amounted to 16,346.4 mln. leva at current prices, preliminary data show. The GDP per capital totaled 2,123.2 leva for the period. The figure marked a 6.9-percent increase, compared to the fourth quarter of 2006.
