This week I have chosen another charming place you shouldn't miss. By the way, this time, it is not in the Rhodope Mountains.

Today I will take you to the City of the Roses – Kazanlak, and a beautiful romantic place called Chiflika Hotel in the building of the Bayrakova House. The house was built in 1851 and is part of the ethnographical ensemble of monuments called Kulata Complex.

You also need to know that not only is the hotel in the City of Roses, but it is also situated in the wonderful Old Town part. The hotel is surrounded by museums and state-of-the-art houses on all sides. Among them is the house of artist Dechko Uzunov, which has also been turned to a museum, the Tiulbeto Park where you can see the famous Thracian Tomb.

I have been there and I have to tell you the Thracian Tomb is a magical place (by the way the tour is quite costy and you'd better fill your pockets well before you go there). Also make sure you visit the original tomb, and not one of the copies.

The Tomb was discovered in 1944 and is one of the nine cultural and historical attraction sites in Bulgaria, included in UNESCO's list of global historical and architectural heritage.

Anyway, back to the hotel. The building has recently been restored and it still preserves the spirit of the distant 1851. So, if you would like to travel back in time to the days of the famous writer Ivan Vazov and feel the atmosphere of that prominent period in Bulgarian History, you will definitely enjoy visiting the Chiflika Hotel.

The place is romantic from the very beginning – what you first see is a great yard and summer garden, and an outdoor restaurant with a fireplace in its center.

Inside there are just 6 guestrooms. In each of them you can enjoy cable TV, minibar and internet access. A double room costs 42 leva, and a single one is 30 leva a night, which is nothing compared to the unique experience of staying at a place like that.

The hotel has a gift shop, which offers a variety of souvenirs from the splendid Valley of Roses, and cosmetics rose products you will fall in love with.

At the end I would like to share with you something that Einstein once said and that have nothing to do with the Valley of the Roses, but I don't know why, these words came to my mind while I was writing that. It's something like this:

There are two ways you can live your life: as if miracles never happen, or as if miracles are happening every day.

You choose!
