“Our company has over 40,000 pigs“, Stefan Raichev, president of Mekom, said during the official ceremony for the registration of the company on the Bulgarian Stock Exchange (BSE).

Mekom has invested nearly 3.5 mln leva since the beginning of 2008. The company is expansing its presence in Romania. Mekom's average monthly beef exports amounted to 100 tonnes in the last four months. The exports will grow to 150 tonnes at an average price of 9 leva per kg.

Mekom posted 14.413 mln leva consolidated net sales revenue and 1.703 mln leva profit for the first quarter of 2008.

The company raised a total of 5.698 mln leva from its initial public offering of shares held in the end of January. Mekom offered a total of 10.682 mln shares with 2.2 leva issue value each, but only 2.604 mln of them were subscribed.

Mekom is an economic group holding stakes in 12 subsidiaries. These include: Agrospectar Invest (99%), Interfoods (98%), Kremonini (97.32%), Mekom OOD (99%), Dobrudjanska Mesna Kompania (98%), Silistra Hybrid (80%), Rusgal (80%), Ronex 2000 (99,33%), OMV OOD (99%), Drastar BV(99%), SVI (88%), Select (96%).

A total of 227,000 shares in Mekom have traded hands so far today at a price of 2.28 leva apiece.
