Sofia Territorial Directorate of the National Revenue Agency (NRA) reported a 31-percent, or 592 million leva (302.68 mln euros), year-on-year increase in collected taxes for the first half of 2008, BTA reported.

The revenue from taxes and social security received in the accounts of NRA's Sofia Territorial Directorate amounted to a total of 2,502,000 mln leva (1.28 bln euros). The share of the corporate tax is still the highest at 77%.

VAT revenues from transactions in the country amount to 946.6 mln leva (483.98 mln euros). The figure represents an increase of 200 mln leva (102.25 mln euros) compared to the year-ago period.

The personal income tax revenues also posted a growth of 58.8 mln leva (30.06 mln euros) to a total of 351.6 million leva (179.77 mln euros).

Revenues from social security also rose 28.44% year-on-year to 130.6 million leva (66.77 mln euros).
