The Authority for State Assets Realization (AVAS) has in its portfolio as many as 437 commercial companies, set to be privatized, with an overall share capital of 4.5 billion lei, of which AVAS holds 471 million lei.

AVAS is majority shareholder in just 56 of these companies and owns a share capital of 371 million lei.

Included in the privatization strategy there are the energy plants and the following companies: Antibiotice Iasi - important medicine producer, Automobile Craiova - unit predicted to become the second carmaker pole in Romania, the Savings Bank (CEC) and Romgaz Medias - that holds and exploits important natural gas fields, in which the state has the monopoly.
