Foreign investments made in the first half of the year in Romania came close to 5 bln euros, higher than initially estimated and around 60% higher against the same time last year, Ziarul Financiar reported.

They could amount to as much as 10 bln euros by the end of the year, if the trend witnessed in the first six months continues. The value of foreign investments as contribution to the capital of companies registered in Romania amounted to 2.58 billion euros in the first half, more than double the level in the corresponding period of last year, according to data from the National Trade Registry Office (ONRC).

E-ON Gaz Romania is the most important player, having performed a 303.2 mln euro capital increase according to ONRC statistics. Telephony ranks next, with Telemobil - 131.2 mln euros and Cosmote – 89.9 mln euros.

Other significant capital subscriptions were recorded on the real estate segment, after Bel Rom received a 58.6 mln euro capital inflow and Green Properties received a cash injection worth 55.3 mln euros.
