Three Banks Report Profit Higher Than 100 Mln Leva in H1
The H1 profit of three Bulgarian banks tops 100 mln leva, shows data provided by the Bulgarian National Bank. Those are Unicredit Bulbank (154.8 mln leva, 79.1 mln euros), DSK Bank (117.8 mln leva, 60.2 mln euros) and United Bulgarian Bank (UBB) (112.3 mln leva, 57.4 mln euros).
Next is Raiffeissen Bank with 81.3 mln leva (41.5 mln euros), followed by Eurobank EFG Bulgaria and Piraeus Bank, which booked respectively 42.09 mln leva (21.5 mln euros) and 34.5 mln leva (17.6 mln euro) in H1.
The public banks BACB, First Investment Bank and Corporate Commercial Bank ranked respectively seventh, eighth and ninth. Societe Generale Expressbank rounds up the top 10.
The other publicly owned bank in Bulgaria – Central Cooperative Bank is 18th, and Investbank, which is to file an IPO in the near future, is 15th.
Two lenders reported losses for the period – Emporiki Bank and Alpha Bank.
H1 profit of the banking system totals 728.5 mln leva (372.4 mln euros), which is 48.57% up from H1 last year.
