Unimployment in Bulgaria is continuing to go down and in April it stood at 8.38% which is 0.54% down compared to March and 1.85 down year-on-year, shows data provided by the Employment Agency.

The number of people registered as unemployed is 310 260 or 20 010 less than the previous month and 68 660 less than April 2006.

A total of 15 623 job vacancies have been announced on the initial labor market. At least 13% of them (nearly 2000) are newly opened positions. The biggest number of them is in the processing industry (518), in the trade sector (436) and in the agricultural sector (257).

Again most job vacancies come from the private sector - 13 083 which increases their share within the total to 83.7%. 3372 seasonal jobs have been announced which is 1% more than March and 21.6% of total jobs offered.

In April a total of 27 930 people started a job. 5288 of them are up to 29 years of age, 2369 have a university degree, 7158 are unemployed skilled workers and 5361 posses some sort of qualification.

75 757 people were employed in the implementation of programs and projects which is 2 000 people more than in the previous month.
