The total number of new vehicles sold in Bulgaria in 2007 first half stands at 24,923, of which 23,615 cars, 270 motorcycles, and 1308 trucks.

In terms of brands, most cars were sold by Toyota (2,641) and Ford (2,386) whose market share stands at respectively 11.18% and 10.10%. Peugeot, imported by Sofia France Auto, holds 8.60% of the market, and Opel and Volkswagen have 7.93% and 7.62% respectively.

Five other brands have market shares of more than 5% - these are Renault (6.88%), Skoda (6.58%), Dacia (6.35%), as well as Citroen with 6.30% (1487 vehicles) and Chevrolet with 5.46% (1290 vehicles).

We remind that in 2006 Peugeot and Ford sold a total of 4628 and 4204 vehicles respectively, while Ford and Opel sold 3840 and 3583 vehicles respectively.

Piaggio is the leader in motorbike sales. Its market share currently stands at 37.41%, or 101 bikes. Yamaha (68 bikes) and Peugeot (51) rank second and third.

According to the Bulgarian Association of Automobile Importers, Mercedes is the most popular brand among the buyers of trucks and buses. Just in 2007 1H, a total of 446 Mercedes units were sold, compared with 321 Iveco units and 254 Volvos.
