Serbia to Become Leader in Industry in the Balkans
Serbian Minister of International Economic Relations Milan Parivodic said that Serbia aims to become a leading industrial country in the Balkans within the next ten years.
Parivodic said that the economic situation in Serbia is good and pointed to the facts that average annual economic growth is some 5.5% and the GDP has increased by three times from $1,400 per capita to $4,300 per capita from 2000 until now.
He said that foreign investments in Serbia have increased from $1 billion in 2004 to $5.5 billion during last year, and he recalled that from 2002 to 2006 Austria invested €1.5 billion in Serbia.
