Broad Money Stands at 42.25 Bln Leva in March

In March 2008, broad money (monetary aggregate M3) reached 42.249 billion leva (21.6 bln euros) with an annual growth rate of 29% compared to 29.8% in February, data of the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) show.
Monetary aggregate M1 totaled 19.848 bln leva (10.14 bln euros), which is 22-percent annual growth, compared to 22.4% recorded in February. The annual growth rate of deposits with agreed maturity of up to 2 years was 36.9% compared to 39.1% in February, while the growth rate of deposits redeemable at notice of up to 3 months was 31.3% compared to 28.3% for the preceding month.
At the end of March 2008, claims on the Non-government sector reached 40.363 bln leva (20.63 bln euros) with an annual growth rate of 55.5% compared to 59.1% in February . Claims on the Non-government include loans, repos, securities other than shares and shares and other equity. The annual growth rate of claims was also influenced by net sales of loans.
The annual growth rate of loans to non-financial corporations was 60.5% compared to 64.1% for the previous month. The change in loans to households and Non-Profit Institutions Serving Households (NPISHs) amounted to 49.5% on an annual basis, compared to 53.9% in February.
Net foreign assets amounted to 17.707 bln leva (9.05 bln euros) with an annual growth rate of 4.3% compared to 5% for the previous month. The annual growth rate of foreign assets in March was 21% compared to 20.8% in February, while that of foreign liabilities – 57.5% compared to 57.4% for the previous month.
