SOFIX Was Biggest Looser in CEE in the Six Months Ended April 30

The SOFIX blue-chip index of the Bulgarian Stock Exchange (BSE) was the most declining index in Central and Eastern Europe in the period November 1, 2007 to April 30, 2008, KD Securities data provided to Profit.bg show.
The SOFIX lost 40.5% of its value in the period, followed by Serbia's Belex 15 and Romania's Bet, which lost 40.0% and 35.5, respectively.
Nevertheless, the SOFIX has declined only by 7.5% in the last 12 months, while Serbia's Belex shed 52.4% in the period.
The Belex (-21.9%) and Slovenia's SBI (-18%) in the three month period from February to April. Croatia's Crobex shed 17.8% in the period, while SOFIX ranked fourth with a 15-percent decline.
The advancing of part of the indexes in CEE and America is reflected in their perfomance over the last three months. Austria's ATX added 9.1% in the period, while Czech PX-50 advanced by 7%.
Investors in Turkey registered the highest return of 11.5%, followed by Austria with 11.1%, the USA (S&P went up by 7.3% in April) and Hungary with 6.0%.
The SOFIX declined by 7.6% in April, while the Belex 15 lost 5.9% during the same month.
