A total of 4,335 construction permits for total built-up area of 2 797 213 sq m were issued in Bulgaria in Q2, the National Statistics Institute (NSI) said today. 2,694 of the licenses are for construction of residential buildings, 108 for administrative buildings and 1,533 for other types of structures.

The total built-up residential area will be 1 650 455 sq m, administrative space TBA is 125,343 sq m and 1,021,415 sq m of other premises.

Sofia has the most permissions for construction of residential builings (319), followed by Plovdiv (289) and Varna (280). Next are Burgas (218), Dobrich (202) and Blagoevgrad (180).

Residential construction permits in Sofia are for 1,308 home units with TBA of 248,335 sq m. In Varna those are for 1,859 home units and 248,149 sq m TBA and in Plovdiv for 1,250 homes and 188,467 sq m TBA.
