Bulgaria's Base Interest Rate stood at 5.06% in July, rising by 1.05 percentage points compared to July 2007, data of the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) show.

Тhe LEONIA Reference Rate was 5.25%, rising by 1.15 percentage points in comparison with July 2007. In June 2008 the one-month SOFIBOR Reference Rate rose by 2.32 percentage points to 6.75% compared to July of the previous year, while the 3-month one rose by 2.50 percentage points to 7.19%.

The yield to maturity on BGN five-year government securities in the secondary market was 6.08%, rising by 2.85 percentage points compared to July 2007. In July 2008 the long-term interest rate for convergence purposes (LTIR) was 5.17%, rising by 0.38 percentage points compared to the same month of 2007.

In July 2008, compared to July of the previous year, the average interest rate on loans up to 1 million EUR increased by 1.46 percentage points to 10.91% and that on loans over 1 million EUR – by 0.78 percentage points to 9.28%.

Compared to July 2007, the average interest rates on consumer loans, on loans for house purchases and on other loans increased respectively by 1.79 percentage points to 11.15%, by 0.94 percentage points to 9.07%, and by 0.69 percentage points to 12.61%.

The annual percentage rate of charge on consumer loans was 12.26%, rising by 1.42 percentage points compared to July 2007. In July 2008 the Annual percentage rate of charge on loans for house purchases was 9.91%, increasing by 1.22 percentage points in comparison with the same period of the previous year.

The average interest rate on deposits with agreed maturity was 5.49%, rising by 1.90 percentage points in comparison with July 2007.

Compared to July 2007, the average interest rate on deposits with agreed maturity increased by 1.56 percentage points to 5.80%.

In July 2008 the average interest rate on overdraft was 9.72%, rising by 1.06 percentage points in comparison with July 2007. The same indicator on loans other than overdraft increased by 0.93 percentage points to 10.46%.

The average interest rate on overdraft decreased by 0.41 percentage points to 13.08% compared to July 2007. The same indicator on consumer loans increased by 0.07 percentage points to 11.06%, while that on loans for house purchases and on other loans increased by 0.34 percentage points to 8.98% and by 0.38 percentage points to 12.60% respectively.

The average interest rate on overnight deposits increased by 0.17 percentage points to 0.85% compared to the same month of the previous year and that on deposits with agreed maturity increased by 1.37 percentage points to 4.85%. The average interest rate on deposits redeemable at notice decreased by 1.15 percentage points to 2.76%.

Compared to the same month of the previous year, the average interest rate on overnight deposits decreased by 0.03 percentage points to 0.90%, while that on deposits with agreed maturity increased by 0.69 percentage points to 5.16%. The average interest rate on deposits redeemable at notice increased by 0.88 percentage points to 3.40%.
