BNB Announces BIR Reduction After 11 Consecutive Hikes

The Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) announced that as of 1 September 2008, the base interest rate is 5.23%.
This is the first reduction after August 2007.
The base interest rate (BIR) has added 1.13 pp over the past 12 months.
The year-to-date hike is by 0.55 pp. Compared with August BIR is down by 0.2 pp.
