Ten Life Insurers Book Profit in H1
Ten life insurance companies in Bulgaria posted profit for the half of 2008, data of the Financial Supervision Commission (FSC) show.
DZI booked the biggest profit of 7.46 mln leva, followed by Allianz Bulgaria and AIG Life with 2.8 mln leva and 2.4 mln leva profit, respectively.
Uniqa Life posted 1.68 mln leva profit for the first six months of 2008, while Grawe Bulgaria booked 954,000 leva profit for the period. UBB-AIG, SyMIC, Bulgarski Imoti, CCB Life and Life Insurance Institute.
The sector posted a combined profit of 1.7 mln leva as at June 30, 2008. The poor result may be put down to the losses booked by Generali, DSK Garancia, KD Life and to a smaller extent by Interamerican, Bulstrad Life, SogeLife Bulgaria and Dobrudja M.

The combined gross premium income of the life insurers came to 129.218 mln leva as at the end of June up 27% year on year.
