Vienna Stock Exchange Acquires Majority Control Over Budapest Stock Exchange

Wiener Börse AG, the company operating the Vienna Stock Exchange, is to acquire a further stake in the Budapest Stock Exchange (BSE), which will boost its current package to a majority holding, Portfolio.hu reports, citing a permit granted by the financial markets watchdog (PSZÁF).
Based on the application and the attached documents submitted by the Vienna Stock Exchange to the Hungarian Financial Supervisory Authority (PSZÁF), the Supervision Directorate approved the company to have a direct controlling stake of 50.4525% in the Budapest Stock Exchange.
The watchdog has not opposed either to the Austrians boosting their stake in the Central Clearing House and Depository (Keler) to 46.67%.
Wiener Börse AG announced in June this year that it bought an additional 25.2% stake in the BSE from UniCredit Bank Hungary Zrt., increasing its holding in the Budapest bourse to 37.7%. It also said it was in talks on buying further packages.
