UNIQA Unit in Croatia Posts 32.4% Increase in Premiums

UNIQA Croatia achieved its greatest premium growth with an increase of 44.8% to HRK 91.2 million (EUR 12.4 million) in non-life business, with the strongest rise recorded by the segments of motor vehicles (+48%) and accident (+181%).
In life insurance, premiums written rose by 22.1% to HRK 92.2 million (EUR 12.6 million). UNIQA Croatia currently has a market share of 3.6% in life insurance. "We therefore not only achieved our original target for the year to increase market share to 3.1% by the end of 2008, but even outperformed it by a wide margin," says Saša Krbavac, CEO of UNIQA osiguranje d.d.
Market growth was thus clearly exceeded in both areas (non-life insurance: approx. 8.4% / life insurance: approx. 2.8%).
UNIQA Group Austria has been represented on the Croatian market by UNIQA osiguranje d.d. since 1999. Provisional data show that the company increased premium volumes by 32.4% to HRK 183.6 million (EUR 25 million) in financial year 2008. UNIQA in Croatia therefore grew around 4.7 times faster than the entire insurance market (+6.8%).
