A total of 4,450 new vehicles were sold in Bulgaria in the first two months of the year. New car sales amounted to 2,204 and 2,246 in January and February, respectively, data of the Association of Car Manufacturers and Their Authorized Representatives for Bulgaria (ACM) show.

The total number of new vehicles sold in the first two months of 2008 amounted to 8,605. Thus new car sales have gone down by 51.71 a year later.

Volkswagen tops the ranking with 555 new vehicles sold and 12.47% market share. Citroen and Ford followed with slightly over 10% of the market, while Toyota, Opel and Peugeot controlled around 7% of the market each.

The top ten in terms of sales is rounded out by Dacia, Skoda, Chevrolet and Nissan.

A total of 14 motorcycles were purchased in the first two months of the year, compared to 35 for the year-ago period. The number of buses and trucks sold has declined by 685 to 195.

Mercedes and Iveco accounted for 75% of the sales in this segment, while Volvo controlled 12% of the market.
