More than 7,363,000 euro will be invested in the transport infrastructure of Dobrich and Romania with the support of the Romania-Bulgaria Cross-Border Cooperation Programme 2007-2013.

In the joint project for achievement of sustainability, mobility and accessibility in the cross-border region, Dobrich will benefit from 4,530,000 euro, Municipality Mayor Detelina Nikolova said.

The money is to be spent on remodelling of road stretches leading from Dobrich to Constanta, which handle the bulk of the passenger traffic in both directions, the Mayor explained. The roads that will be renovated provide a link with the city centre and with the Dobrich industrial zone.

The Consanta Regional Council will use the rest of the financial resources to purchase road equipment.

Implementation of the project will start in 2011, and repairs are due for completion within 25 months. The motor traffic in the cross-border region will be assessed, and the two cities will develop a joint strategy for improvement of passenger mobility.
