Hospital debts decreased by some 60 million leva between September 2005 and December 2007, Health Minister Radoslav Gaidarski said during Question Time in Parliament on Friday.

At the beginning of the current government's term in 2005, the debts incurred by municipal and state-run hospitals totalled 229 million leva, and at the end of 2007 they amounted to 176 million leva.

Gaidarski gave examples of hospitals with decreasing debts, among them the St Ekaterina Hospital (debt decreased from 17 million leva to 1 million leva), the Pirogov emergency hospital (from 15 million leva to 1 million leva) and Alexandrovska hospital (from 8 million leva to 3 million leva).
