Home prices in Bulgaria are decreasing for eighth month in a row.

Just two years ago the average home price in the country was 1418 leva/square meter and in September 2010 the average is at 959 leva/square meter, data by the National Statistics Institute (NSI) reveals.

Prices fell by 1.2% in third quarter, compared to second quarter, NSI data also showed.

The average decline in market prices for Q3 compared with Q3 in 2009 came to 6%.

In Q3 prices fell in 16 cities. The largest declines were seen in Gabrovo (-8.6%), Targovishte (-7.2%) and Haskovo (-5.8%).

The average home price in Q3 for the country is 959.79 leva/square meter.

The capital Sofia maintains highest prices (1 592.58 leva/square meter), followed by Varna (1 557.17 leva/square meter) and Burgas (1 164.88 leva/square meter).
