The SOFIX blue-chip index of the Bulgarian Stock Exchange (BSE) is the least declining index in Eastern Europe last week. The index slipped by 1.19% to 1,025.54 points in the period August 18-22, data of Karoll shows.

Serbia's BELEX15 also declined by less than 2% over the past week. The index skidded 1.57% lower to 1,422.75 points.

The third less declining index is Turkey's ISE-100. The index shed 3.08% to 40,894.27 points last week.

Ukraine's PFTS index was the biggest decliner among the Eastern European indexes. The PFTS declined by 7.61% to 592.42 points last week.

Russia's MICEX index slipped by 5.86% to 1,374.69 points, while the MSCI EE index dropped by 5.6% to 532.84 points).

The SOFIX has lost 41.99% in 2008 and the the fourth biggest decliner in the region this year. The top three losers are Romania's BET (-42.12%), Montenegro's NEX20 (-46.97%) and Ukraine's PFTS (-49.54%).

Turkey's ISE-100 has lost 26.37% since the start of the year, while the MSCI EE and Russia's MICEX have declined by 26.56% and 27.22% so far.
