GLOBUL revenues for the second quarter of 2008 reached BGN 213.4 million, up by 9.2% year-on-year.

The operator’s operating income for the period stood at BGN 42.2 million, compared to BGN 35.6 million a year ago, an increase of 18.6%.

GLOBUL’s basic service revenues increased by 11.3%, driven mostly by contract airtime revenues (up 17.5%), supported among other by a 95% increase in data revenues, following the introduction of 3G services.

GLOBUL continues its focus on the post-paid customer segment, adding c.112K net new contract subscribers, to bring its contract customer base to 1.9 million, or 48% of the total. Prepaid customers registered a decline of approximately 45K, leading to an overall customer growth of 67K and a base of 3.95 million subscribers.

GLOBUL’s blended AMOU for H1’08 reached 106 minutes, up by about 20%, as a result of increased pre-paid AMOU (up 41%) following commercial initiatives to stimulate usage. Blended ARPU declined c. 5% at some BGN 18, due to lower post paid ARPU, resulting from the higher subscriber numbers in this category and tariff erosion.

Despite the challenging macroeconomic, competitive and regulatory environment, COSMOTE Group revenues increased by 7.6% in the second quarter to EUR 794.2 million. The group’s operative income stood at EUR 182 million, up by 13% year-on-year. The Group added a total of 942k subscribers during the quarter, driving the customer base to nearly 17.5 million, a 33% increase compared to a year ago.
