Depreciation of Romanian Currency Affects Trade
&format=webp)
The depreciation of the Romanian currency hinders the transactions of Bulgarian companies in Romania, says an analysis of the Rousse-based Bulgarian-Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Operation in Romanian currency inflicts losses on Bulgarian companies which sell goods to large chains of stores in Romania through subsidiaries registered in that country. In this case the transactions are performed in Romanian leu, and usually the term of payment is between 45 and 60 days. This period defines the losses, as the depreciation of the leu places Bulgarian companies at a disadvantage.
Sales through contracts with large Romanian companies are also rendered difficult. In this case the contracts are in euro, but the Romanian companies are at a disadvantageous position as they sell their products in leu under a rescheduled scheme of 30-40 days.
