Greece will fully meet its commitments, related to the construction of the Zlatograd-Xanti checkpoint in July, after which Bulgaria and Greece are expected to sign and ratify an agreement on the unveiling of the facility. This transpired following a meeting of GERB Party Chairman Tsvetan Tsvetanov with Greek Interior Minister Prokopis Pavlopoulos in Athens on Tuesday, the GERB press centre said.
Cooperation between Bulgaria and Greece, the problem of trans-border organized crime and the construction of a gas transiting line between Dimitrovgrad and Komotini topped the agenda of the discussions.
Tsvetanov also met with Dimitrius Katsoudas, Chief Secretary at the Greek Foreign Ministry, and Deputy Foreign Minister Miltiadis Varvitsiotis.
The purpose of the visit is to promote cooperation between GERB and the ruling party in Greece, New Democracy. The sides were unanimous that Bulgaria and Greece could serve as a basis for regional cooperation in the Balkans, said Tsvetanov. In April a delegation of New Democracy will visit Bulgaria at the invitation of GERB.
