Bulgaria is still looking at the possible options for the future of the Belene Nuclear Power Plant and will announce its next steps in September. There have been no negotiations with potential investors, including investors from the Arab countries, said the Minister of Economy, Energy and Tourism, Traicho Traikov, quoted by his Ministry's press office.
This statement comes in reaction to media stories about planned talks with officials from the Gulf Cooperation Council about a future discussion of possible participation of Arab investors in the plant's construction.
If Bulgaria decides to carry on with the project, it will seek potential investors and may turn to all interested parties. That is why no option should be ruled out, Traikov said, adding that such invitations had not been issued so far.
