The Industrial Production Index increased by 1.1 per cent in August 2010 compared to July 2010, according to seasonally adjusted data released by the National Statistical Institute (NSI) on Monday.

The working day adjusted Industrial Production Index rose by 3.7 per cent in August 2010 compared to the same month of 2009.

In August 2010, the manufacturing industry production index increased by 1.7 per cent compared to July 2010, while the production index of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply decreased by 0.3 per cent, and the mining and quarrying industry production index dropped by 1.4 per cent.

More significant production increases in the manufacturing industry were registered in the manufacture of other transport equipment (except cars), by 55 per cent.

There was a decrease in the manufacture of tobacco products by 7 per cent, the manufacture of textiles by 6.7 per cent, and the manufacture of wearing apparel by 4.8 per cent.

In August 2010, the Industrial Production Index, calculated on annual basis from working day adjusted data, grew in the manufacturing industry by 5.1 per cent, in the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply by 1.5 per cent, and in the mining and quarrying industry by 1.0 per cent.

Increases were registered in the production of investment goods, by 12.6 per cent, the production of intermediate products, by 8.2 per cent, and the production of energy products, by 1.6 per cent.
