Sofia Airport 2010 Passenger Traffic Up Six-fold Y/Y

In 2010 Sofia Airport has serviced sixfold more passengers than in the previous year and the annual profit is forecast at 14 million leva, the airport's Chief Operating Officer Nikolai Kabakchiev said.
The expected number of serviced airplanes for the year stands at 47,130, or 3.1 per cent more than in 2009. As regards the number of served passengers, the figure is 3,324,000 or 6 per cent more year-on-year.
Sofia Airport has undertaken all measures on the requirements for accession to the Schengen area. The complete division of passengers from Schengen from those from all other countries is already a fact at Terminal 1.
Since last month the airport has been fitted with four Internet checking automatic devices.
Within one or two months Terminal 2 will be outfitted with an аdditional two new automatic parking meters and payments by hand will stop. The procedure for developing an entirely automated metering system at Terminal 1 will also be launched by mid-December. Its parking lot has already been supplied with six new digital cameras recording all cars, the reception of money and the issuance of receipts by the parking controllers.
