Four hundred companies are waiting for registration in the Central Professional Register of Building Developers, which is accessible to the public as from January 1, 2008, the Bulgarian Construction Chamber announced on Monday. On Tuesday, a standing commission elected by the Chamber's General Meeting will examine the applications of 60 companies. More than 200 companies have registered so far.

Information on registered building developers can be accessed online at http://register.ksb.bg.

Users can find information on the registered office, the form of management and the projects implemented by the registered developers. Information on the tangible fixed assets, the personnel and the net income of construction companies for the previous year, as well as brief company presentation, are also available.

The database is searchable by settlement and construction works category, and search by company name will be available, too, shortly.

According to the Chamber of Builders Act, all Bulgarian and foreign building developers registered as merchants under their national legislation and performing construction within the territory of Bulgaria are subject to registration.

The law seeks to establish transparency for the business of construction companies and to protect the interests of contracting authorities, building developers and users of construction services.
