For the first time in eight months the SOFIX blue-chip index of the Bulgarian Stock Exchange (BSE) broke the 400-point mark today. This happy early in the session and the index stayed manage to stay above this level almost until the end of the day. The index, however, failed to closed above it as it ended the day up 0.84% to 399.95 points.

BSE's other three indexes also ended the day higher: BG 40 (+1.05%, to 124.53 points), BG REIT (+0.26%, to 46.95 points) and BG TR30 (+0.79%, to 336.32 points).

BSE's overall turnover exceeded 1 mln leva. A total of 80 issues were traded on the day with 41 of the companies posting stock price gains.

Odessos Ship Repair Yard advanced by 4.15% to 99.999 leva per share on the day. A total of 22 shares in the company traded hands. Odessos booked 3.05 mln leva profit for 2010, compared to 3.2 mln leva profit a year earlier.

BACB's market value continues to decline. The stock of the bank closed 1.09% down on the day at 9.001 leva per share. The traded volume on the position came to 2,694 shares. BACB booked 18.87 mln leva net loss for 2010.

Fibank was among the day's gainers. (+5.85%, to 2.805 leva). A total of 18,222 shares in the bank were traded on the day. CCB closed nearly 1% up at 1.383 leva per share.

KTB's stock price edged 0.14% up to 70.00 leva per share.

Bulgartabac-Holding (+1.31%, to 31 leva) and Blagoevgrad BT(+1.20%, to 50.50 leva) were also among today's advancers. Bulgartabac booked more than 16 mln leva consolidated profit for 2010. The non-consolidated profit amounted to 6.3 mln leva.

Billboard's stock price continues to advance. The stock of the company appreciated by 2.62% to 0.939 leva per share on the day.

Alcomet gained 2.69% to 6.1 leva per share today.

EMKA shed 2.78% closing at 3.50 leva per share. The sales of the company are up by 79% to 63.46 mln leva in 2010. EMKA booked 4.1 mln leva profit last year, compared to 1.34 mln leva profit for 2009 г.
